A Never-Ending Interview

Life often feels like
A never-ending interview
In which you are expected
To show up every day
Highlighting your strengths
Functioning out of your strengths
Even boasting of your strengths

Just so you can achieve
Just so you can impress
Just so you can feel confident
Just so you can belong
Just so you can avoid rejection
Just so you can cover up your blemishes
Hiding them even from yourself
Even from God

It feels like exposing weaknesses
Would ruin your life
Your appearance, your reputation
Your goals, your chances of success

But what if
Life with Jesus is different

What if
He already knows your weaknesses

What if
He can see their devastation
No matter what picture you paint
To try to make them seem
Less harmful, more faint

What if
He sees you fully
But still accepts you
Not because he needs you
But because he wants you

What if
He could work in you
And move through you
Without you hiding
Your worst weaknesses

What if
God's grace is sufficient for you
And it washes over your weaknesses
Not to hide them
But to use them
To bring him glory

What if
You must not only admit to
But boast in your weaknesses
For Christ's power to rest on you

What if
His power
Is actually made perfect
In your weakness
