Branch On The Vine

I’ve been searching for life 
In my partial identities 
I’ve been seeking fulfillment 
In pieces of who I am 

I’ve been defining myself as 
A good wife 
A good student 
A good dog mom 
A good friend 

And when I fall short 
Of whatever I think is good 
I shame myself 
I feel inadequate 

But the Holy Spirit
Gently reminds me
That I am actually a
Follower
Of Jesus Christ
Saved, forgiven, redeemed
Christ lives in me
Christ lives through me
He makes me
Righteous
Like Him
A new creation

This is what truly defines me
In Christ I find my full identity
