Jesus knew that 
He would get betrayed 
Yet that man who would 
He still befriended 

I like to regret the things 
I did for you 
The ways I loved you 
Before you shattered me 

I cringe at all 
Our beautiful memories 
When I was so naive 
Before you betrayed me 

But I shouldn’t 
Because Jesus doesn’t 

I’ve rejected Him 
I’ve wronged Him 
I’ve betrayed Him 

Yet He still embraces me 
Not only with forgiveness 
But also eternal relationship 
And a million second chances 

So I can’t just stay mad 
I can’t just brew with self-pity 
I must forgive like Jesus forgives me 
And love how Jesus loves me 

I will forgive you 
With a heart of gratefulness 
For our messy, confusing relationship 
That God gifted us with
