Branch On The Vine

To all of humanity
Jesus' invitation is
“Follow me”

But what does that mean?

Start by dropping everything
Leaving behind
Your life of sin
Actually dying to it

Because you will find
New life in him
New worth in him
New love in him
New hope in him
New strength in him
New peace in him
Forgiveness in him
Freedom in him

Instead of living selfishly
Gripping onto control
Until your knuckles turn ghostly

Let go 
Surrender your whole life
To Jesus Christ

Follow his way
Learn his truth
Imitate his life

Lay down 
Your crown
At his feet

Take up your cross
And give your life
To him
Give up everything
That had a claim
To your identity

To embrace
The new you
Child of God

That’s what Jesus means
When he calls you
And you hear him say,
“Follow me”
